Framing lumber sales were muted as distractions ruled the week.
Traders spent much of their time discussing the stock market, global
economic concerns, the Ebola virus, and the first signs of seasonal
poor weather in some regions. Many producers fell back on order files
of varying length and rode through the anxiety their customers
expressed about the economy and global events. The Random Lengths
Framing Lumber Composite Price was unchanged at $384.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel markets picked up steam. Low field inventories,
speculation about production cutbacks, and steady activity prompted
OSB buyers to increase purchases. While activity wasn¨t a runaway,
it was noticeably stronger than in recent weeks. Strength in
Southern Pine plywood was unabated. With order files well into
November at most mills, prices edged upward. For western Fir plywood
traders, the week was a carbon copy of the previous two weeks, with
mills selling production and prices finishing flat.
