Report
The end of the month and quarter brought a slower pace to framing
lumber markets. Carryover from last week¨s action lifted many prices
for the week, but a decided slowdown by Thursday halted much of the
earlier momentum. Drops in futures Wednesday and Thursday left some
traders jittery. Month-end discounting was reported in some species,
most noticeably Southern Pine. Some traders said the market was due
for a pause after its late summer run. Gains for the week lifted the
Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price to $381.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Trading in structural panels picked up. With mill order files
stretching well into October and loads flowing freely out of their
yards, buyers showed more willingness to purchase OSB, especially in
the second half of the week. A steady pace of replacement purchasing
kept Southern Pine plywood mills' order files moving out, and prices
tilted upward. Secondaries were generally upbeat about the market.
Western Fir plywood sales were unspectacular, but steady enough for
mills to edge up prices.
