Report
Traders looking for a post-holiday resurgence in trading of framing
lumber were mostly disappointed. While some markets were steady to
active, overall sales failed to meet traders¨ expectations.
Producers fielded a spotty to steady flow of fill-in orders, but with
buyers often seeking at least modest price concessions. Attracting
buyers with prompt carload offerings usually required deeper cuts.
With most species posting drops in key items, the Framing Lumber
Composite Price dipped $4 for the week, to $404.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Losses outnumbered gains in structural panel markets. The flat to
slightly downward drift in prices of OSB was unabated. Prices in
some regions hit their lowest levels since February 2012. Activity
so far in September has trailed most traders¨ expectations. Prices
of Southern Pine rated sheathing continued to erode, even as mills
fielded a steady flow of fill-in orders. In western Fir plywood, the
sheathing market took on a firmer tone after most mills pushed order
files into the week of September 29.
