Random Lengths Lumber Market Report

Prices of framing lumber remained under heavy downward pressure as mills sought offers and buyers held back for fear of further downside potential. Sandwiched between holiday weekends in the U.S. and Canada, the week offered less opportunity to build any momentum, and the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell $13, to $361. The trend left many traders frustrated, given the market¡¯s inability to shake weakness at a time of year that¡¯s traditionally active.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report

Structural panel prices continued to decline. Prices of OSB softened across all producing regions heading into the holiday weekend in the U.S. Several producers found themselves with short order files amid a customer exodus Friday among U.S. traders. While some Southern Pine plywood mills stuck to quotes, others entertained counters. Downside price pressure from the secondary level eased. Trading in western Fir plywood was uneven but slow for the most part; some traders began their holiday weekend a day early.
