Report
Traders had a mix of feelings about the framing lumber market, but
sales overall were steady to active in the field, and the overall tone
was bullish. Activity among producing regions was mixed, as well.
While the buzz from the previous week died down in western species,
upward momentum intensified in Southern Pine, with many traders noting
that demand was unusually strong for mid-August. Eastern S-P-F also
picked up. The Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price marched
$6 higher, to $398.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading drifted. Sales and price trends were a
mixed bag in OSB. In general terms, the farther south the mill, the
better the sales prospects. Sales of Southern Pine rated sheathing
dragged, and some mills quietly opened to discounts to extend order
files. A few producers had loads available to ship the week of
August 25, but most were booked into early September. Western Fir
plywood sales were mixed in an uneven week of trading.
