Report
Wood flowed through the distribution pipeline readily; however,
ample mill offerings kept prices of framing lumber soft. Activity
picked up Thursday, with a gain in futures, wholesale short covering,
and mill discounts that persuaded buyers to cover needs. However, many
buyers remained cautious and unwilling to purchase more than minimum
requirements. The faster finish lifted some prices off their lows, but
many prices posted drops for the week. The Random Lengths Framing
Lumber Composite fell to $371.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel sales gained modest momentum later in the week.
OSB mill sales picked up in the second half of the week, and
producers sold sufficient volumes to slow the descent of prices, if
not stall it altogether in some regions. Demand for Southern Pine
plywood kicked into gear Wednesday as buyers¨ concerns about
downside risk subsided. Some producers helped jump-start sales by
offering discounts. Western Fir plywood mills finished with an
overall solid week of sales, although activity varied from day to
day.
