Report
Prices of framing lumber gained modestly through the week, as
mostly steady demand prevailed across the U.S. Buyers in Canada shook
off lingering wintertime lethargy and stepped into the market to cover
spring needs. Producers mostly raised quotes in small increments,
content to pad order files and work down excesses stemming from
winter-related railcar shortages. Gains in most species helped lift
the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price for a third straight
week, to $376.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading lost momentum. Mill sales of OSB slowed,
especially in the second half of the week, but prices continued to
edge higher in all producing zones. Most of the activity filtered to
secondaries. Southern Pine plywood sales cooled as extended mill
order files and higher prices gave some buyers pause. A few said the
market had entered a digestion phase. The pace of sheathing sales
slowed at western Fir plywood mills, as secondaries offered panels
modestly below producers¨ quotes. Prices flattened.
