Report
An early week flurry of sales buoyed order files, particularly
among Canadian S-P-F mills. But a lack of follow-through and deepening
weakness in some species left the framing lumber market trending
sharply downward. Production overwhelmed demand in Southern Pine, and
downward price pressure intensified as the week progressed. Trends at
western mills were mixed, but losses outnumbered gains. All told, the
Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell sharply for a
second straight week.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel prices shifted in both directions. Prices of OSB
edged lower in most producing regions, although a growing number of
producers said they were drawing a line in the sand. Southern Pine
plywood prices advanced as mills pushed order files into October.
Distribution yards, wholesalers, and retailers were active
participants. Western Fir plywood sales proceeded at a steady pace,
and mills maintained solid order files. Producers held prices firm
or nudged them up selectively.
