Report
As expected, sales of framing lumber were muted by the midweek
holiday. However, while trading offices were closed or short-staffed,
the market¨s overall tone was upbeat, with expectations for an
active start to the new year. Producers were especially optimistic,
bolstered by order files into mid-January, and sometimes beyond.
Reported price changes were minimal, and mostly to the upside. Some
wholesalers reportedly had substantial volumes on their lists, but
remained confident in their ability to sell with profit.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel sales fell silent amid the holiday season.
Phones were quiet in OSB markets through most of the week,
especially from Wednesday on with Christmas and Boxing Day holidays.
A number of traders were out of their offices for most, if not all,
of the week. Southern Pine plywood sales Thursday and Friday were a
non-event, but prices stayed on a solid footing. The pace was
predictably slow in western Fir plywood. Prices finished flat or up
about $5. The holidays blunted buyers¨ urgency to take on
inventory.
