Most framing lumber prices advanced as sales equaled or topped
production. Many buyers remained cautious, but they also had more
needs to cover, and found key items more difficult to source on a
timely basis. Even as deadly storms raked the South, better weather in
the U.S. overall boosted consumption, particularly in the Midwest and
the Northeast. Green Fir buyers stepped in, reversing softness in
pricing that ran counter to last week¨s overall firming trend. The
Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price gained for a second
straight week.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel prices soared amid brisk sales. The OSB
Composite posted its first double-digit increase since last August.
A combination of improved demand and reports of mill downtime pulled
buyers into the market. Southern Pine plywood prices surged in
response to solid demand from all buying sectors. Pine¨s discount
to western plywood continued to spur sales. Western Fir plywood
prices rose sharply on strong follow-through from last week¨s fast
pace.
