Downward price movement intensified, with pressure on some mills to
clear unsold inventories by month- and quarter-end. Buyers were wary
about stepping into a falling market, countering hard for downside
protection on items they needed to buy. Producers fended off many of
the deeper-cutting offers. But those with buildups took some of them,
or made their own counteroffers that didn¨t cut quite so deep. The
Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell $6, to $378.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading faded amid lackluster demand. OSB buyers
maintained a cautious approach as the first quarter came to a close.
Prices softened in varying degrees across all producing zones.
Southern Pine plywood sales slowed and price cracks developed in
some regions. While several mills were booked into the week of April
7, others had loads available for shipment next week. Western Fir
plywood sales continued at a lethargic pace. Mills quoted around
last week¨s published levels, but listened to modest counters on
most items.
