Report
Sales were uneven and price trends inconsistent across the framing
lumber market. Buyers at all levels of the North American distribution
system purchased cautiously. Weakness was most pronounced in Southern
Pine. Western S-P-F producers maintained firm to higher prices,
offsetting cautious buying from customers in the U.S. with steady
sales within Canada and offshore. Sales of western U.S. species
cooled, but prices posted scattered gains. The Random Lengths Framing
Lumber Composite dipped for a third straight week.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel sales gained modest momentum after sputtering
early. Sales of OSB picked up steam in the second half of the week,
and most producers reported sales by Friday that were above their
lows from Tuesday and Wednesday. After a slow start to the week,
Southern Pine plywood sales picked up in late trading. More activity
in OSB markets pulled some buyers off the sidelines. Western Fir
plywood buyers retreated to the sidelines and hunted for values in a
week that saw light volumes traded.
