Report
Buyers of framing lumber steered clear of large positions, but a
broader base of buyers stepped in to cover needs and many prices
firmed or gained. The major exception was green Douglas Fir, as a
sharp pullback in purchasing by buyers in California led to a
softening trend in #2&Btr prices. Sales of Southern Pine gathered
momentum as the week progressed, sales of dry species in the West
exceeded mill output, and prices gained a firmer footing in Western
and Eastern S-P-F.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading was active. OSB traders reported the
best activity in months, and prices in most regions posted increases
of $5-15. Activity was strongest in western markets, and lagged in
Eastern Canada. Southern Pine plywood sales stayed ahead of
production, allowing mills to extend order files and raise quotes.
Purchasing was broad-based, both geographically and among buyers.
After a slow start, western Fir plywood sales picked up steadily.
Wednesday and Thursday were among mills¨ busiest days in weeks.
