Market fatigue was evident in most framing lumber species, and many
traders welcomed the respite of the coming U.S. holiday weekend.
Producers with thinning order files succumbed to month-end discounts,
although the cuts were usually modest. Green Douglas Fir remained
particularly weak, and prices of most widths of #2&Btr dimension
drifted lower. Discounts also cropped up in the narrows of dry Fir
random dimension, and in 9-foot studs. In Southern Pine, #2 2x6
weakened amid strength in the wide widths.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading lacked energy. OSB mill sales sputtered
ahead of the holiday in the U.S., and a number of traders got a head
start on the weekend. Traders who were in their offices on Friday
spent much of their time working on transportation issues. Southern
Pine plywood sales were slow in advance of the holiday weekend. Much
of the week¨s phone activity consisted of customers tracking
shipments. Western Fir plywood trading was quiet, with buyers
entrenched on the sidelines and mills inclined to hold their quotes.
