Report
Less than a week into the month, some traders were already calling
framing lumber markets ＾ the June swoon.￣ Prices eroded in
the West and Canada, while a mix of recent trends flattened in
Southern Pine. In total, traders noted decent liquidity, but it often
took lower prices and a more aggressive approach on the part of
sellers to entice buyers. Declines far outnumbered gains, and the
Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell $6, to $375.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel buyers lacked urgency, and sales were lethargic.
To entice buyers, OSB producers took a more aggressive approach to
pricing at midweek. A number of producers said their sales improved,
but it usually took double-digit discounts to book orders. Southern
Pine plywood sales were hit and miss, as buyers sat on PO books
waiting for the dust to settle. Orders at most mills lagged
production. After an exceedingly dull start to the week, western Fir
plywood activity perked up midday Thursday and helped the week end
with a more upbeat tone.
