Report
Framing lumber sales slowed and price trends were flat to narrowly
mixed. Some traders reported a pickup in activity Thursday in response
to a jump in futures. The overall reaction, however, was shallow, and
earlier weakness that crept into pricing of some species was still
apparent in late trading. Winter weather slackened demand across the
U.S. and Canada much of the week, but it also slowed production in
Eastern Canada and the South. The Random Lengths Framing Lumber
Composite Price edged down.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Severe winter weather wreaked havoc on structural panel markets.
Exchange rates and transportation headaches were also at the
forefront of the minds of OSB traders. Open-market mill sales were
sparse throughout North America. Southern Pine plywood sales picked
up Friday after hit-and-miss action earlier in the week. Several
producers lost up to three days of production, and a number of sales
offices were closed due to weather conditions. Western Fir plywood
sales remained lethargic, with traders citing the weather as a
reason to delay purchases.
