Report
Sales of framing lumber were uneven, but an overall stronger week
of business firmed and lifted many prices. Offshore sales the previous
week took pressure off Western S-P-F producers, and an active start to
the week set a stronger tone. Gains in futures flushed out short
sellers and reluctant but underbought distributors and dealers,
resulting in a rally that lifted prices of narrow dimension and 2x4
studs by double digits. With a few other species firming, the Random
Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price rose $2.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Steady sales nudged structural panel prices upward. A midweek
pickup in sales enabled OSB mills to firm quotes in most producing
regions, but slower activity thereafter resulted in minimal gains
for the week. Southern Pine sheathing sales cooled from last
week¨s brisk pace. Activity, however, was sufficient to support
moderate price gains in many of the most heavily traded items.
Western Fir plywood prices tilted upward after a week of overall
steady sales.
