| Prices of framing lumber turned upward across the array of North
American species. The need to replenish after weeks on the sidelines
was the key factor for many secondaries, especially with the long
Thanksgiving weekend in the U.S. in the offing. Southern Pine, which
had set the faster pace amid the previous week's mixed trend,
continued to strengthen. Softness in various other species dissipated
with a wide-ranging sales surge on Wednesday.

Structural panel trading took on a more upbeat tone. OSB sales and
prices perked up in most regions. The prospect that curtailments would
tighten mill offerings in December motivated many dealers to purchase
extra loads. Southern Pine plywood prices maintained upward momentum
through the week, as buyers were willing to look at covering needs
through the end of the year. In western Fir plywood, thin inventories
combined with favorable weather in the Northeast to drive buyers into
the market.
