A major sawmill closure in Western Canada made waves during an otherwise
quiet winter week of sales for the lumber industry.
In the week ending Jan. 26, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL)
was US$442 mfbm. This is flat from the previous week when it was $442. That
week’s price is up by $31, or eight per cent from one month ago when it was
$411 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was $394 mfbm, that week’s
price is up by $48, or 12 per cent. Compared to two years ago when it was
$1,220 mfbm, that week’s price is down by $778 or 64 per cent.

That week’s price is down by $36, or eight per cent from one month ago
when it was US$453 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was $455 mfbm, that week’s
price is down by $38, or eight per cent. Compared to two years ago when it
was $1,515 mfbm, that week’s price is down by $1,098, or 72 per cent.
