Report
Trading picked up in framing lumber markets, although day-to-day
activity was inconsistent. Tuesday was generally the busiest day of
the week; a limit-up move in futures was enough to push many
fence-sitters into the market. Fair trading prevailed through
Wednesday, but the pace cooled on Thursday. Springtime weather
elevated demand in some markets, but many northern markets were still
in need of warmer, drier conditions. The Random Lengths Framing Lumber
Composite Price rose $3, to $336.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Sales of structural panels remained uneventful, and prices were
flat to slightly lower. The impact of month- and quarter-end was
felt in some markets as mills needed to discount to sell prompt
loads. In OSB, activity was best in the South, where consecutive
days of nice weather spurred builders to dig foundations. Most
Southern Pine plywood prices were unchanged in quiet trading, but
traders remained optimistic about near-term prospects. Some western
Fir plywood mills opened to modest counters as order files thinned.
