Momentum from last week¨ stronger finish largely evaporated by
Monday, and most prices flattened. Buyers, having covered needs the
previous week, did little more than fill holes, and quick shipment was
often a priority. Winter weather that gripped markets from the Plains
to the Northeast was one factor. Weakness in futures also undermined
confidence. Modest gains carrying over from the previous week lifted
key prices early on, and the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite
Price edged up $1.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading faded. The flurry of activity that
developed last week in OSB dissipated in most regions. Most buyers
had already covered their near-term needs. Prices leveled off or
edged higher in the North, but discounts cropped up in the South.
Southern Pine plywood sales moderated from last week¨s pace. The
tone of the market remained upbeat, however, and prices worked
higher. Western Fir plywood sales were infrequent in the wake of
last week¨s strong run. Prices edged up on momentum from the
surge.
