| AFMA Raises 2002 Sales Forecast The American Furniture Manufacturers Assn.’s new sales forecast predicts a 6% increase in furniture shipments in 2002, up to $24.345 billion. AFMA's most recent forecast, released in July, predicted only a 4.1% increase. The association expects wood furniture shipments to improve by 4.0% this year, to $11.30 billion. It anticipates upholstered furniture shipments to grow 8.8% to $10.714 billion. AFMA predicts a 4.9% overall furniture shipments increase in 2003, with wood furniture shipments up 4.4%.
