| Peru Peruvian timber exporters have recently
increased the FOB price of Mahogany. The main reason is the growing demand because of the
restriction in Brazil on the export of Caoba (Mahogany). In spite of the price increases,
North American and Central American importers still are buying Mahogany. According to
representatives of some exporters, while importers are prepared to pay the higher prices
they are also looking for lower priced alternative species with similar characteristics. |
