| News: IWPA Mahogany Workshop a Success 05.10.2002 - Belem, Brazil The Tropical Forest Foundation and the Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agro-Pecuaria (EMBPRA) co-hosted a Mahogany Workshop in Belem, Brazil, May 2-4. The workshop came to a successful close after intense discussions on the topic, "Sustainable Trade and Management of Mahogany.” Members of the mahogany industry, governments, scientists and NGOs pointed out that bans on logging and trade activities are generally counterproductive in relation to a sustainable use of forests. |
