China¡¯s Jiangsu noted as leading market pulp consuming area

Jiangsu Province in China consumed 1.15 million tonnes of market pulp in 2000, accounting for 41% of total raw material, the highest such ratio in China. Its wastepaper and grass fiber usage are 45% (1.25 million tonnes) and 14% (400,000 tonnes) separately.
According to preliminary statistics, there are more than 80 papermaking enterprises in Jiangsu, located north of Shanghai. Year 2000 total output of paper and board was about 2.8 million tons, an increase of 108% from 1995 or an average annual growth rate of 15%.

The province¡¯s paper and board output is expected to reach 4 million tonnes in 2005, according to Jiangsu Paper Association. And the usage of market pulp will increase to 50%.
