| November 2001 Cabinet Sales Up More Than 10% HMR Custom News According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association Trend of Business Survey, cabinet sales increased 10.2 percent in November 2001 compared to the same reporting period for 2000. This is second consecutive double-digit monthly gain reported by participating member firms; January-February 2000 was the last time back-to-back monthly gains reached or exceeded 10 percent. The November 2001 Survey shows stock cabinet sales posted an 11.4 percent gain, while sales of custom cabinets advanced 3.6 percent. Year-to-date cabinet sales for 2001 are up 6.8 percent. Stock cabinets sales are running ahead of last year by 6.6 percent and custom cabinets are up by an even 8 percent. Member firms participating in the KCMA monthly Trend of Business Survey include stock and custom cabinet manufacturing companies that represent more than half of the cabinet market. The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association is the major trade association for manufacturers of kitchen cabinets and bath vanities, and suppliers of goods and services to the industry. All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA, but 44% of the membership report annual sales of less than $5 million, and 63% are under $10 million in total annual sales. |
