Siempelkamp supplies press lines and complete plants for the wood-based panel industry

Siempelkamp has announced that it will continue developing its artificial intelligence solutions for the wood-based panel industry independently following the end of its collaboration with Hexion in Aug 2026.

The partnership focused on AI-driven solutions for the sector, including Prod-IQ SmartPress, which received a positive market response. Hexion is a global chemical company specialising in adhesives, performance materials and specialty resins.

The collaboration began in Mar 2022, when Siempelkamp and manufacturing technology company Smartech combined their expertise in AI and industrial engineering for the wood-based panel industry. Following Hexion’s acquisition of Smartech in Dec 2024, the partnership continued under Hexion.

The collaboration officially ended on 18 Aug 2026. Siempelkamp said it would maintain its focus on digitalisation, AI-supported process optimisation and autonomous production.

The company will continue working directly with wood-based panel manufacturers to develop solutions tailored to their operational requirements. It also plans to expand its digital and AI capabilities independently, with the aim of advancing fully autonomous production environments.
