According to the stock survey report published by the Swedish
Forest Agency, stocks of coniferous sawlogs and pulpwood have
both decreased compared with the previous quarter.
Coniferous sawlog stocks in Sweden fell to 3.5 million solid
cubic metres under bark (m3f ub) as of June 30, 2026, while
pulpwood stocks declined to 5.2 million m3f ub. Total stocks of
coniferous sawlogs, pulp chips and pulpwood reached 9.7 million
m3f ub, down approximately 1.1 million m3f ub from the previous
quarter, according to the Swedish Forest Agency.
Sawlog stocks decreased by 23%, while pulpwood stocks fell by
4%. Pulp chip stocks increased by 19% to 1 million m3f ub.
The decline in sawlog stocks occurred in three of the four
timber balance regions. In timber balance region 2, covering
Stockholm, Uppsala, Gotland, Västmanland, Dalarna and Gävleborg
counties and Härjedalen municipality, where Storm Johannes
brought down the largest volume of forest, sawlog stocks
continued to increase.
Sawlog stocks in the region reached 1.38 million m3f ub on June
30, up 15% from the previous quarter. Pulpwood stocks rose 42%
to 1.4 million m3f ub.
Pulp chip stocks increased in all timber balance regions. Stocks
of roundwood for energy purposes totaled 0.82 million m3f ub as
of June 30.
