Japan increases its softwood lumber imports
In January, Japan imported 297,000 m3 of softwood lumber, i.e. 1% more than in the same month last year (294,000 m3). Volumes purchased from the various supplying countries varied.

Japan's imports of laminated timber have increased again
In January 2026, Japanese laminated timber imports totaled 48,000 m3 following a year-on-year increase of one third. However, they are still only half compared to the record January of 2022 (101,000 m3).
