Increased timber supply
The leading grade of spruce, quality class B, Media 2b+, is
currently fetching prices of €128 to €130 per cubic meter (net,
ex-road). Demand for softwood sawlogs remains high, although
logistical bottlenecks are causing delays in transport. Since
blue stain and bark beetles are not a concern during the winter,
this is not a major issue. Nevertheless, planned harvesting
operations should be carefully coordinated in advance to ensure
smooth timber marketing.
The sales situation for both softwood and hardwood industrial
timber has improved significantly. Transport and acceptance are
proceeding accordingly.
At the hardwood timber auction in St. Florian, almost all of the
delivered timber, totaling 1,533 cubic meters, was sold. The
average revenue across all tree species was €781 per cubic meter
(2025: €658). Oak, accounting for 80 percent of the timber
volume sold, achieved an average price of €885 per cubic meter,
representing a five percent increase compared to the previous
year. The highest bid for oak this year was €2,669 per cubic
meter, which is also the highest bid at this year's hardwood
auction. 246 logs received bids of more than €1,000 per cubic
meter at the auction, including 229 oaks. Since hardwood must be
harvested outside of the sap flow season and the season is
gradually drawing to a close, a swift conclusion to the hardwood
harvest is recommended.
