How the PPA Determines Prices

The PPA has been determining pellet prices in Austria monthly since 2006. The industry association collects data from more than 50 fuel dealers. According to its own figures, this covers more than 70 percent of the traded fuel volume. Its survey thus provides a reliable indicator of market price trends. The PPA calculates the average price by discarding the two lowest and two highest dealer figures. The survey of dealers is generally conducted in the first week of the month. About three weeks later, PPA publishes its results.
