Roundwood trade volume in Finland fell by 22% in June compared to the same month last year and remained level with the five-year average. Despite this drop, the total volume traded from January to June rose 1% year-on-year and exceeded the five-year average by 12%, according to Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

Standing sales prices remained elevated in June. Pine logs rose 1% to Euro 84 per m3, birch logs increased 2% to Euro 69, and spruce logs held steady at Euro 86. Compared to the previous year, pine log prices rose 10%, while spruce and birch logs rose 7%. Standing prices for all three log types remained at their highest levels since 2007.

Pulpwood prices in standing sales also reached historic highs. Spruce pulpwood rose 1% to Euro 36 per m3, pine and birch pulpwood each increased 2% to Euro 35. Compared to last year, prices increased 14% for pine pulpwood, and 12% for both spruce and birch. Since the monthly statistics began in 1995, standing sales prices have never been higher for pine and birch pulpwood, and spruce pulpwood prices were last this high in real terms in 1998.

Delivery sales saw pulpwood prices ease slightly from May but stay at peak levels. Pine pulpwood fell 2% to Euro 53 per m3, spruce dropped 1% to Euro 54, and birch pulpwood declined 1% to Euro 53. All remained 6% higher than in June 2024.
