
Germany: Business climate for hardwood sawmills brightens

The situation for hardwood sawmills improved again slightly in
June, but the bottom line remains negative. Just under 20% of
those surveyed expect business to deteriorate over the next
three months, just as many expect it to improve, while the
remainder expect the business situation to improve in the next
three months.
Germany: Situation for softwood sawmills slightly less
negative
In June, the current situation of German softwood sawmills is
slightly less negative. All survey participants rate current
business as adequate. All respondents expect stability over the
next three months.
Germany: Fewer orders again in the main construction sector
In April 2025, real, calendar-adjusted new orders shrank by 8%
compared to the previous month. This represents an increase of
9.3% for building construction. Civil engineering saw an
increase of 34.3% in March as a result of various large orders.
Germany: Packaging wood products with different trends
In June, the purchase prices of solid wood for packaging and
pallets as well as OSB for packaging increased compared to the
previous month. A negative development can be observed in the
price index for plywood.
