UPM Specialty Papers will invest over 10 million euros in the
modernization of UPM Tervasaari mill in Valkeakoski, Finland.
The investment will allow UPM Specialty Papers to boost capacity
and improve production stability in its highly specialized
products, such as glassines and flexible packaging papers.
"UPM Specialty Papers has over 40 years of experience producing
highly demanding specialty papers," said Tomi Lonka, Senior Vice
President, Global Specialty Papers, UPM Specialty Papers. "This
investment underscores our commitment to serving customers in
the label, tape and industrial value chains as well as
packaging."
The modernization project includes a rebuild of the paper
machine drying section and related steam system upgrade.
The project is expected to be completed at the end of 2026.
UPM noted that in recent years it has invested approximately 20
million euros in boosting the energy efficiency of the
Tervasaari mill. In 2023, for example, a new electric boiler was
installed.
