
Softwood lumber producer prices increased by 3% in April 2025,
continuing an upward movement after a 3% rise in March. Hardwood
lumber prices remained flat after gaining 1% the previous month,
signaling a pause in recent momentum. Millwork prices edged up
by 0.1%, recovering from a 1% decline in March, while plywood
dropped 0.4%, reversing a 2% gain in the prior month. The
softwood veneer and plywood category fell by 1%, after a 3%
increase in March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor
Statistics.
Overall, the Producer Price Index for final demand declined by
0.5% in April, following no change in March and a 0.2% increase
in February. The decrease was driven by a 0.7% drop in final
demand services, while prices for final demand goods remained
unchanged. On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index rose
2.4% over the 12 months ending in April.
