AUSTRIA: Rising log and lumber prices
In March, the Austrian price indices for log wood and lumber continued their upward trend. The log price index increased by 0.7 percentage points month on month. The lumber price index rose by 3.4 percentage points.

GERMANY: Wood chip prices with a slight decrease since April
On the German sawmill byproduct market, both the supply and demand situation have eased slightly over the course of the spring. In April, pellet mills and pulp producers were able to access larger quantities from the sawmill industry again.

GERMANY: Marked increase in building permits for single-family homes
In the first quarter, the construction of 46,100 new housing units was permitted in Germany. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 4.1%.
