SWEDEN: More softwood lumber exported
In January and February, Sweden exported 2.2 million m³ of softwood lumber (incl. planed timber), recording a year-on-year increase of 4%.

SWEDEN: Swedish log prices at a record level
In the first three months of 2025, Swedish prices for spruce sawlogs increased by another 10% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 and have stabilized at over €100/m³. Prices for industrial softwood logs rose by 5%.

AUSTRIA: Fewer new buildings, more renovation
Despite the decline in new construction, the number of completed housing units increased by 11% to 51,500 in 2024. Fewer building permits are issued for apartments in new buildings, whereas there is an increase in permitted apartments in existing buildings.

GERMANY: Pellet production output at all-time high in the first quarter
In the first three months of 2025, 948,000 t of pellets were produced in Germany – a new all-time high for the first quarter. The export share has fallen to less than 10%.

Czech Republic: Coniferous log prices continue to trend upwards
In the first quarter of 2025, the prices of softwood logs in the Czech Republic continued to increase compared to the previous quarter, while hardwood logs became cheaper. Compared to the previous year, softwood prices are around 10% higher, while oak wood is noticeably, beech wood is significantly..
