Germany: Hardwood lumber exports up slightly in 2024
In 2024, exports of sawn hardwood grew by 5% year-on-year to a
total of around 490,000 m3. At 100,000 m3 and 50,000 m3
respectively, the two largest customers China and the USA
received 22% and 5% more than in 2023. Poland, Vietnam and
Mexico also.
Germany: Oak timber exports continue to decline
Exports of oak sawn timber fell by 4% to 70,000 m3 in 2024. This
continues the downward trend of previous years. The most
important customer is still the Netherlands, with a drop of 22 %
to 12,000 m3. Denmark (8,000 m3) also.
Germany: Stable exports of industrial beech wood
In 2024, Germany exported 50,000 cubic metres of beech
industrial timber (weak beech timber), almost the same amount as
in the previous year (-0.4%). Austria, by far the most important
buyer, received around 12% less at 47,000 cubic metres.
