Georgia-Pacific has invested $14 million in upgrades and
improvements at its Prosperity, South Carolina plywood mill. A
key aspect of this project is the modernization of the existing
boiler, aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency, reducing
environmental impact, and stimulating the local economy by
creating jobs during the renovation process.
¡°By enhancing the boiler at the mill, we are continuing to show
our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to
reinvesting in the mill, the town of Prosperity, and the
surrounding community,¡± said Kevin Livingston, plant manager for
Georgia-Pacific¡¯s Prosperity Plywood Mill.
¡°Along with this upgrade to the boiler, we are investing
millions of dollars in other improvements across the mill. These
improvements will help us focus on being an environmentally
conscious, 21st century mill that continues to provide great
jobs to people in our area.¡± Kevin concluded.
Since 1975, Georgia-Pacific¡¯s Prosperity Plywood Mill has been a
key player in South Carolina¡¯s manufacturing landscape. Over the
years, the facility has undergone numerous upgrades and
investments to remain competitive in the evolving building
products market. The mill produces some of Georgia-Pacific¡¯s
flagship plywood products, including Plytanium Plywood and
Ply-Bead sanded panels, which are widely used by professionals
and private builders in thousands of residential and commercial
construction projects annually.
