Georgia-Pacific invests $14M to upgrade South Carolina plywood mill

Georgia-Pacific has invested $14 million in upgrades and improvements at its Prosperity, South Carolina plywood mill. A key aspect of this project is the modernization of the existing boiler, aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and stimulating the local economy by creating jobs during the renovation process.

¡°By enhancing the boiler at the mill, we are continuing to show our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to reinvesting in the mill, the town of Prosperity, and the surrounding community,¡± said Kevin Livingston, plant manager for Georgia-Pacific¡¯s Prosperity Plywood Mill.

¡°Along with this upgrade to the boiler, we are investing millions of dollars in other improvements across the mill. These improvements will help us focus on being an environmentally conscious, 21st century mill that continues to provide great jobs to people in our area.¡± Kevin concluded.

Since 1975, Georgia-Pacific¡¯s Prosperity Plywood Mill has been a key player in South Carolina¡¯s manufacturing landscape. Over the years, the facility has undergone numerous upgrades and investments to remain competitive in the evolving building products market. The mill produces some of Georgia-Pacific¡¯s flagship plywood products, including Plytanium Plywood and Ply-Bead sanded panels, which are widely used by professionals and private builders in thousands of residential and commercial construction projects annually.
