
Finland: Softwood lumber exports with a slight decrease
From January to November 2024, Finland recorded a 2%
year-on-year decrease in its softwood lumber exports. Different
developments can be observed in the various export markets.
Norway: Industrial timber prices continue to rise
predominantly
The upward trend in spruce industry timber prices in Norway
continues in the fourth quarter 2024. Even hardwood has become
more expensive. Pine, on the other hand, became slightly
cheaper.
Switzerland: Supply bottlenecks threaten the timber
market
In eastern Switzerland, the year started with optimal weather
conditions for the wood harvest. Nevertheless, the quantities
provided so far are not sufficient to meet the high demand. The
bearings of the sawmill industry are shrinking and a stock
build-up for deliveries in the second.
Germany: Kitchen turnover decreased by 6.2% in November
Following growth in September (+3.2%) and October (+6.0%), total
turnover in the German kitchen furniture industry declined again
by 6.2% to €494.4m in November 2024.
German pellet output above previous year's figure again
At a total of 908,000 t Germany’s pellet output in the fourth
quarter was 0.7% higher than a year earlier.
