Economic recovery in Europe, including demand for materials, is
expected to gradually take hold. The fallen Euribor is expected
to support construction and development activities, and with
continued inflation, a slight increase in wood prices in Estonia
is likely to occur from the second quarter, predicts Toomas
Pärtel, the head of Puumarket, a timber and building material
business selling goods wholesale and retail in Estonia and
Scandinavia. Currently, the price of construction wood is nearly
50% lower than in 2022, and the prices of general construction
materials have remained stable over the past year.
Between December 2023 and December 2024, log prices in Estonia
remained stable for spruce and rose by 2-4 % for pine and birch.
On average for 2024, prices for softwood logs fell by around 10%
and for hardwood logs by around 20%.
