Builders FirstSource to Buy

Builders FirstSource on Monday said it agreed to acquire Alpine Lumber, an employee-owned and operated company with 21 locations across Colorado and New Mexico. Alpine offers homebuilders and contractors a range of products, including prefabricated trusses and wall panels and millwork. Hamid Taha, chief executive officer of Alpine, will remain with the business to assist during the transition period. Builders FirstSource said Alpine reported TTM sales of about $500 million as of November. The acquisition, which will be funded with a combination of existing cash and credit facilities, is expected to be accretive to Builders FirstSource's adjusted earnings per share next year, the company said.
