Forests of Ukraine in 2025 to
invest UAH 600 mln in machinery, equipment for mechanized timber
harvesting |
In 2024, the State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine invested almost UAH 400 million in the purchase of new fire-fighting equipment, carried out the largest forest planting in recent years, and in 2025, more than UAH 600 million will be spent on forestry machinery and equipment for mechanized harvesting. As general director of the state enterprise Yuriy Bolokhovets wrote on Facebook, in 2024, the State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine allocated more than UAH 1 billion to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and UAH 800 million for social support. He noted that despite the lack of precipitation, abnormal heat, mining and constant air attacks in 2024, the area of fires was several times smaller than the average in 2015-2020. "Thanks to profitable work, almost UAH 400 million has been invested in mobile modern equipment for rapid response to fires," Bolokhovets emphasized at the final annual conference. The CEO of the enterprise said that a record number of new tree seedlings were planted in 2024. Forests of Ukraine opened seven modern seed centers to increase production of seedlings with a closed root system, which can be planted almost all year round. In addition, the state enterprise, due to unprofitability, abandoned wood processing, but the enterprise's income did not decrease. The biggest challenge of the next few years is the abandonment of clearcuts and the transition exclusively to selective logging in the Carpathians. Within existing environmental requirements, the state enterprise is considering the possibility of increasing the harvesting to 20 million cubic meters of wood per year, and also intends to increase the purchase of equipment for mechanized timber harvesting. Director of the IT Department Andriy Vorony added that the priority area for 2025 would be the implementation of an ERP system, which would automate and standardize business process management and allow receiving reliable and timely information. As reported, forestry reform began in Ukraine in 2016. Within its framework, the sale of unprocessed timber at electronic auctions has already been introduced. Since 2021, an interactive map of the location of timber processing facilities has been operating in a test mode in a number of regions. Source: interfax.com.ua |
