Swedish roundwood prices rise in

The roundwood prices on delivery timber increased for both sawlog and pulpwood during the third quarter of 2024 in comparison with the second quarter of 2024. The price increased in all regions. Regionally, the greatest increase in sawlog prices was in Svealand by 12 percent, followed by Norra Norrland with 10 percent. In Södra Norrland the sawlog prices increased by 4 percent while the price in Götaland increased by 3 percent compared to the previous quarter. Regarding pulpwood prices, the largest increase is in the north and prices continue to increase in the south of Sweden. The pulpwood prices in Norra Norrland and Södra Norrland increased by 13 and 7 percent respectively. In Svealand and Götaland the price on pulpwood increased by almost 8 and 6 percent respectively. Continued increase compared with the third quarter of 2023 When comparing with the same quarter last year, the trend of increasing roundwood prices continues. Overall, sawlog prices increased by 25 percent. Regionally, the sawlog prices increased by 37 percent in Svealand while the prices in Södra Norrland and Götaland increased by 27 and 23 percent respectively. In Norra Norrland the sawlog prices increased by 19 percent. Clarification Delivery purchase is a method which means that the forest owner themselves, with or without the help of employees or contractors, delivers their wood to the roadside. Delivery purchases account for less than 10 percent of the total sold quantity. Please note that the average prices are volume-weighted roundwood quantities.
