Germany: Downward trend in particleboard production slows down
In the first six months of 2024, German particleboard manufacturers produced around 3.8 million m3 (+0.06%), almost the same volume as in the same period of the previous year. This brings the downward trend of the previous years 2022 and 2023 to a halt for the time being.

Saxony-Anhalt: Timber market calm
Overall, there is little movement on the timber market in Saxony-Anhalt. The loss of supplies of coniferous logs in the federal states particularly affected by the bark beetle is making itself felt. Demand is high. Sufficient available felling capacities also allow .

Germany: Hardwood lumber production continues to shrink
In the first six months of 2024, around 420,000 m3 of sawn hardwood was produced, 15% less than in the same period of the previous year. The industry is thus continuing the downward trend that characterised 2019 and 2020, and which will continue in 2021.

Germany: Sawn timber production continues to decline
A total of around 11.6 million m3 of sawn timber was produced in the first half of 2024. This represents a decrease of 4% compared to the same period last year. The proportion of softwood was 96 %.

Germany: Situation in residential construction little improved
The situation in the residential construction sector improved only slightly in September. The current business situation is described as good by 10% of companies, as sufficient by just under 40% and as poor by a good 50%.
