Canada's lumber exports to
United States rise 3% in H1 |
In the first half of 2024, Canada¡¯s lumber exports to the United States rose by 3% compared to the same period last year. Export volume reached 14.7 million m3, while the value of these exports increased by 7% to $2.95 billion, according to new Statistics Canada data. The primary increase in export volume occurred during the first three months of the year, while the second quarter exhibited signs of stagnation. In the first quarter, Canada¡¯s lumber exports to the United States expanded 8% year-on-year to 7.26 million m3. The value of exports grew 11%. The second quarter showed different dynamics. From April to June 2024, exports slipped 1% year-on-year to 7.46 million m3. The value of exports gained 3%. Average prices of lumber fluctuated in the first half of the year, starting at $199 per m3 in January and ending at $196 per m3 in June.
