Austria: Pellet price barely
falls in June 2024 |
The Austrian pellet price in June 2024 fell by 0.4 per cent compared to the previous month. This was announced by the industry association Pro Pellets Austria (PPA). At EUR 285.30 per tonne, the average pellet price in June 2024 is 25.1 per cent lower than a year ago, according to PPA. Current comparison of energy sources According to the PPA, no other heating fuel can currently compete with pellets in terms of price. The heating cost comparison refers to the calorific value of the fuel. It does not take into account the efficiency of heating systems. Pellets: 5.99 euro cents per kilowatt hour Heating oil: 11.74 euro cents per kilowatt hour Natural gas: 1625 euro cents per kilowatt hour Electricity: 34.08 euro cents per kilowatt hour How PPA determines the prices PPA has been calculating pellet prices in Austria on a monthly basis since 2006. To do this, the industry association collects data from more than 50 fuel traders. According to its own information, it records more than 70 per cent of the traded fuel volume in this way. Its survey is therefore a reliable indicator for the development of market prices. PPA calculates the average price by cancelling out the two lowest and two highest trader figures.
