U.S. Ceramic Imports Declined
11.4% YOY in Q1 2024 |
In the first three months of the year, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 39.7 million square meters, a decline of 11.4% from the same period in 2023 when imports were 44.9 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting. This decrease was due to the declines in imports from most countries except India and Italy: India was up by 3.5%, Italy was even, Spain (-2.5%), Mexico ( -26.2%), Brazil (-28.5%), Turkey (-25.9%). Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 8.3. million square meters, followed by Spain (7.3 million square meters), Mexico (6.8 million square meters), Italy (6.2 million square meters), Brazil (3.1 million square meters), and Turkey (2.7 million square meters). Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $127 million, followed by Spain ($110 million), Mexico ($62 million), India ($45 million), Brazil ($21 million), Turkey ($22 million).
