Finland: Softwood lumber exports with a big decrease In January, Finland exported much smaller volumes of softwood lumber and planed timber than in the same period of last year. Increases in shipments to China and Japan could not compensate for the decrease in Finland¡¯s main foreign market. Japan Laminated timber imports decreased slightly In January and February, Japan reduced its imports of CLT and glulam by 2% compared to the same period of last year. Nearly half of all the laminated timber came from Finland. Japan Increase in softwood lumber imports In the first two months of this year, Japan imported more softwood lumber than in the same period of 2023. Nevertheless, the total import volume remained well below the levels recorded in previous years. Sweden Smaller volumes of lumber exported In January 2024, Sweden¡¯s exports of softwood lumber remained below last year¡¯s level. Deliveries to main market Great Britain decreased, while those to Egypt increased compared to January 2023. |
