Germany: Turnover in the engineered wood industry fell

(SR) In the first three quarters of 2023, sales in the engineered wood industry fell by 17% to € 4 billion compared to the same period in the previous year. The sharpest decline in sales was seen in domestic business, where sales fell by 20% to € 2.5 billion . Sales of the sawmill industry below last year's level In the first three quarters, the German sawmill industry generated significantly lower sales than in the same period of 2022 and 2021. Looking further back, however, puts this year¡¯s sales into perspective. Construction industry to see an upward trend only in 2025 The German construction industry is experiencing an ongoing crisis. Construction output in Germany is expected to decrease by 6.2% both in 2023 and 2024. An upward trend is not expected until 2025. USA: Record imports on the decline (SR) US imports of plywood, particleboard and fibreboard (including OSB and other wood-based panels) fell by 24% to 10.3 million m³ in the first nine months of 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. ¡¡ |
